The launch of the first Alleva Animal Health brands signals a back to business for the company. Estabished in 2011 by ex-staff members of Ancare Animal Health, Alleva has already racked up an impressive list of product introductions in New Zealand. In Australia the excellence of its R&D work has already been recognised through the release by Virbac of CYDECTIN Platinum, a product based on the technology developed by Alleva at their Auckland, NZ based laboratory.
Company Director Robert Holmes says “it is somewhat ironic that a team of ex-Ancare guys are just arriving in time to pick up some of the pieces after Boehringer Ingelheim made the decision to cease supply of a number of Ancare products”.
He also says that kiwi and Aussie sheep and cattle farmers are facing many of the same challenges around parasite resistance. It makes good sense to share ideas and solutions across the Tasman, particularly as the big multinationals lose interest in the Australasian sheep and cattle business. Say Holmes “you cant blame them for showing a preference for the pet market along with the pig and poultry sectors. Globally these are huge industries, whereas for us, we live and breath Australasian sheep and cattle farming so our focus is firmly in these markets. In the coming few years we hope Australian producers will reap the benefits of our work”.
Alleva products are available exclusively from WinRural distribution partner stores.
